TGV French domestic traffic » Travelling with a disability

General conditions
Travelling with a wheelchair or mobility scooter
  • The maximum dimensions of a non-folding wheelchair (electric or otherwise) or mobility scooter are: 120 x 70 cm (l x w).
  • There are no special fares for passengers with a wheelchair and their accompanying passengers; they travel at the regular TGV fare.
  • You can, however, reserve a special wheelchair space.
  • You pay the price of a second-class ticket, even if the wheelchair space is in first class.
  • The seats around the wheelchair spaces remain free for the accompanying passengers. This means it is not possible/necessary to reserve specific accompany-passenger seats.
  • If you are able to move to a regular seat, you can choose to reserve a regular seat. In that case, your wheelchair must be folded up and meet the set luggage rules. Please go to TGV French domestic traffic » Travelling with luggage.
  • A small wheelchair, known as a 'transfer wheelchair', is available from the train manager on request. You can use this wheelchair to visit the toilet, if you are unable to reach it independently.

Travelling with a visual impairment
  • There are no special fares for passengers with a visual impairment; they travel at the regular fare.
  • There is, however, a special Begeleiderstarief [Companion fare] for passengers accompanying a passenger with a visual impairment, in possession of an OV-Begeleiderskaart [Public Transport Companion Card].

Travelling with a registered assistance dog
  • Guide dogs and other assistance dogs travel for free, without a ticket. A muzzle is not required.
