What is Intercity Berlin
  • Intercity Berlin is a day train jointly run by NS International and Deutsche Bahn.  
  • The trains runs seven times a day between Amsterdam Centraal via Amersfoort, Hengelo, Osnabrück and Hannover to Berlin, in both directions.  
  • You travel from Amsterdam Centraal to Berlin Hauptbahnhof in 6 hours and 20 minutes.
  • For this train you purchase a ticket and, optionally, a separate seat reservation.
    • While reservations are not compulsory, they are highly recommended. The train is often busy.
    • During summer months, a seat reservation is mandatory.

  • Intercity Berlin has first and second-class carriages, a Bord bistro buffet car and a special carriage for bicycles.

Fare structure
  • The price of a ticket to/from Germany depends on a variety of factors, including:
    • the class you are travelling in
    • the distance you are travelling
    • the flexibility with respect to options for changing or cancelling the ticket
    • the time of booking: booking early increases the chance of inexpensive tickets
    • discount passes
  • You can obtain the ticket price by entering your journey details in the 'What is your destination?' section on NSInternational.nl
  • A bicycle ticket does not have a fixed price and depends on the chosen route. The compulsory bicycle reservation is for free.
  • A single-journey seat reservation costs € 4,90 (Second Class) or € 5,90 (First Class) per person.
