How can I use my Studenten-reisproduct if I want to make an international journey?
Do you have a Studentenreisproduct and want to make an international journey? Then in some cases you are entitled to a discount of 40% or 100% on the part of your international journey in the Netherlands. We recommend in all cases that you buy an international ticket for the entire journey, from your departure station in the Netherlands to your final destination abroad. If you are entitled to a discount, select ‘40% discount in the Netherlands’ or ‘100% discount in the Netherlands’ at NSInternational.nl, or ‘NS route with discount’ or ‘NS route free’ at the NS ticket machine.
You will then receive an international ticket to which the 40 % or 100% discount has been applied. Please note: Buy two single journeys if necessary if the same terms and conditions do not apply to both the outward and the return journeys.
You do not have to check in if you have an international ticket with a square barcode. This square barcode can, however, be used to open gates on stations in the Netherlands. Checking in and out on stations in other countries is not possible.
Please note: You do need to check in and out in the Netherlands with an international ticket bought from an NS ticket machine. Checking in and out on stations in other countries is not possible.
Always take your OV-chipkaart with your Studentenreisproduct on it with you on your journey, so that when your ticket is checked you can show that you are entitled to a discount. However, do not use your OV-chipkaart to check in and out at the gates.
