What is Eurocity Direct

Eurocity Direct is a high-speed train that runs from Amsterdam Zuid to Brussel-Zuid/Midi via Hazeldonk border and Antwerpen-Centraal in about 2 hours, starting 15 December 2024.
The train runs 16 times a day from Amsterdam Zuid, Schiphol Airport and Rotterdam Centraal.
- Thereof, Eurocity Direct departs from Lelystad Centrum 12 times a day. Up to Amsterdam Zuid, the intermediate stations are Almere Buiten and Almere Centrum.

Domestic route

Eurocity Direct also operates as a domestic high-speed train on the Schiphol ⇔ Rotterdam Centraal HSL route.
- Passengers with a domestic ticket for the Schiphol Airport ⇔ Rotterdam Centraal have to pay a supplement.

What is EuroCity

EuroCity is an Intercity train that runs from Rotterdam Centraal to Brussel-Zuid/Midi via Breda, Hazeldonk border and Brussels Airport-Zaventem in about 2:07 hours, starting 15 December 2024.
The train will operate 16 times a day from Rotterdam Central and Breda.

It is not possible to reserve a seat.

It is not permitted to sell a Eurocity Direct ticket for a journey spread over two days that includes an overnight transfer.

There is no seat map for Eurocity Direct and EuroCity. It is not possible to reserve a seat.

Fare structure

There are 2 basic fares:
- Flex fare
  - Valid on all departure times of the chosen train on the chosen date and route (no train connection).
  - Can be combined with all discount cards.
    - On Eurocity Direct, NS discount (40% or 100%) is not valid between Rotterdam Centraal and Hazeldonk border.
- (Super) Saver fare
  - Only valid on the chosen departure time (train connection).
  - Can be combined with discount cards giving 100% discount in Belgium or the Netherlands.
    - On Eurocity Direct, NS discount is not valid between Rotterdam Centraal and Hazeldonk border.
Brussels Airport Supplement:
- For tickets from/to Brussels Airport-Zaventem, the Brussels Airport Supplement is included.
- Brussels Airport Supplement is not included if;
  - Tickets on which Brussels Airport-Zaventem is not explicitly mentioned as the start or end station, such as a subscription.
  - Duty tickets and study tickets from/to Brussels Airport-Zaventem.

Season tickets
Passengers who regularly travel with EuroCity to Belgium can purchase a Traject Vrij season ticket for frequent international travel to Hazeldonk border.

Please note: this season ticket is not yet available for Eurocity Direct.
