French day trains (not TGVs) » Travelling with a disability
Conditions
Passengers with a disability must hold an OV-Begeleiderskaart.
Travelling with a wheelchair or mobility scooter
There are no special fares for passengers in a wheelchair and their accompanying passengers.
Not all TER and Intercity Intercité trains without a required reservation are equipped for passengers in a wheelchair.
We recommend passengers in a wheelchair only to travel on trains that require reservations.
If passengers nevertheless wish to travel on a TER or IC SRO train, they can contact the Accès Plus department of SNCF for more information.
In trains requiring reservations (IC ARO), there are spaces for one or two wheelchairs/mobility scooters of a maximum of 120 x 70 cm (l x w).
Travelling with a visual impairment
There is no special fare for passengers with a visual impairment.
There is a special Companion fare for the person accompanying a passenger with a visual impairment.
This fare only applies if the visually impaired passenger has a French mobility inclusion card.
Passengers with a disability and accompanying passengers must travel the entire journey together: Departure and destination station and class must be the same on both tickets.
Travelling with a guide dog or assistance dog
Assistance dogs travel free of charge (without a ticket). A muzzle is not required.
Customer Service: Requesting Travel Assistance
You can request assistance with getting on and off the train from NS Travel Assistance.
Requests for assistance during an international journey should be submitted at least 24 hours before departure of the train.
