Conditions
General
  • Children must be in possession of:
    • a valid passport or identity card in their own name.
    • all the required visas or other immigration documents needed for the countries they are travelling through.
  • Children travelling alone or with an adult who is not their parent or guardian must have written evidence that their parents/guardian give consent to the journey.
 
Conditions for travelling age category
  • Children aged up to the age of 3 (inclusive):
    • travel for free and without a ticket if they do not occupy a seat of their own.
    • If they do occupy a seat of their own, they travel at the children's fare (see the category for children aged 4 to 11 (inclusive)).
  • Children aged 4 up to 11 (inclusive):
    • travel with a Child fare or other reduced fare.
      • TGV France ⇔ Spain: Children 4 up to 13 (inclusive)
    • must always be accompanied by:
      • A parent or legal guardian.
      • A person at least 12 years old who is in possession of written permission from the accompanied child's parent or legal guardian.
  • Passengers aged 12 years or over:
    • There is no special fare for youths aged 12 years or over: they travel at the regular fare for adults.
      • TGV France ⇔ Spain: Children 14 aged 12 years or over.
    • TGV Brussel-Zuid/Midi ⇔ France: Youths aged from 12 to 25 (inclusive) travel at the Youth fare, subject to availability.
      • When the Youth fare is sold out, youths travel at the regular fare for adults.
 
On the train
  • TGV trains have a special babycare space in carriage 7 or 17.
  • You can have bottles and meals for babies warmed up at the TGV bar.
