Conditions
General
  • All luggage must be labelled with your name and address details.
  • Luggage must not obstruct anyone.
  • You must be able to carry your own luggage.
 
Luggage in TGV
  • Each passenger may take the following luggage on the train
  • Two regular sized pieces of luggage and one item of hand luggage.
  • Or one piece of non-standard luggage (see below), one piece of regular luggage and one piece of hand luggage.
    • Please note: Stricter rules apply if you are travelling with an OuiGo ticket (not for sale through NS International). For more information, please refer to your original point of sale.
  • There are no exact rules with regards to weight and size of the luggage. ‘Regular’ more or less corresponds to a maximum of 32 kg and a maximum of 85 cm in length.
 
Non-standard luggage
  • Examples of non-standard luggage
    • Folded pushchairs
    • Packed bicycles meeting the conditions for travelling with a bicycle in France.
    • Musical instruments in a hard instrument case
    • Golf bags
    • Skis
    • Surfboards
 
Not permitted in TGV
  • Check the customs rules before travelling. Items not permitted by customs or another government body are also prohibited on French day trains. Example:
    • Replica or toy weapons that could be perceived as real weapons
    • Ammunition
    • Fireworks
    • Hazardous sports equipment (such as javelins, crossbows, fencing sabres and starting pistols)
    • Hazardous equipment (such as garden shears, kitchen knives)
  • Products intended for trade.
  • Products that might cause a hindrance to other passengers, e.g. products that give off a very strong smell.
 
What next
  • If your luggage meets the conditions, you can take it on the train with you and stow it free of charge in the luggage racks:
    • Luggage racks above the seats
    • Under the seats
    • Luggage racks at the ends of each coach
  • If your luggage does not meet the conditions, it may be refused.
  • You remain responsible for your own luggage at all times.
