General terms and conditions
  • Children must hold a valid passport or identity card in their own name.
  • They must have all the required visas or other immigration documents required for the countries they are travelling through.
  • Children travelling alone or with an adult who is not their parent or guardian must be able to present written evidence that their parents/guardian give consent for the journey.
    • You will find an example of a consent form on the central government website for you to download.
    • The form is an aid, and parents or guardians can also draft a letter themselves in which they give consent.

Children travelling alone
  • In principle, children aged 12 upward can travel alone on Eurostar to Belgium/France. If you want your child to travel alone, please take the following into account:
    • The child travels under the parents' responsibility.
    • There is no supervision on the train or at the stations during the journey.
    • During the journey, the child must be in possession of written proof of consent from their parents or legal guardian.  
 
Conditions per age group
Aged up to 3
These children travel:
  • for free and without a ticket if they do not occupy a seat of their own;
  • at the children's fare if you wish to reserve the child their own seat;
  • always accompanied by: 
    • a parent or guardian;
    • or an adult (18 or over) in possession of written consent from the minor's parents or guardian.
 
Aged 4 to 11
These children travel:
  • at the children's fare;
  • always accompanied by: 
    • a parent or guardian;
    • or an adult (18 or over) in possession of written consent from the minor's parents or guardian.
 
Aged 12 to 25
These children and young people travel:
  • at the Jongerentarief [youth fare], subject to availability.
    • If the youth tickets are sold out, a young person travels at a fare for adults.
  • Although children aged 12 to 18 may travel alone, they require consent from their parents or guardian.
