Eurostar to Belgium/France » Travelling with luggage

  • With your Eurostar ticket you are allowed to bring the following luggage:
    • 2 pieces of luggage with a maximim size of 75 x 53 x 30 cm
    • 1 piece of hand luggage
    • There is no weight limit, but you must be able to carry all your luggage yourself.
  • Make sure that all luggage is labelled and that each label states your first and last name, seat and carriage number and your final destination.
  • For security reasons, it is forbidden to obstruct train aisles and doors with luggage or to fasten luggage (with ropes, padlocks, etc.) to the train.
  • If you are travelling with a child, you are allowed to bring a push chair free of charge in addition to the allowed luggage as described above. The push chair must be collapsed before boarding the train and stored in one of the (overhead) luggage racks of the carriage in which you are seated. Luggage (oversized or otherwise) on Eurostar Snow to the French Alps
  • Additional luggage space has been created on Eurostar Snow for skis, snowboards and other oversized luggage in coaches 6/16, 7/17 and 8/18.
  • Eurostar Snow has employed special staff (Ski hosts) to assist passengers in loading and unloading luggage. The Ski hosts travel the entire route and help at each station.
  • These Eurostar Snow trains also have a special luggage coach at the front of the train.
    • This luggage coach is only accessible to luggage of passengers travelling from the Thalys departure to destination stations.
    • The luggage coach is loaded in Amsterdam and Brussels on the outward journey and in Bourg-Saint-Maurice on the return journey. The coach is not accessible at other stations.
    • Passengers wishing to stow their luggage in this coach must be present half an hour prior to departure.
Not allowed
  • EU customs rules also apply to Eurostar Snow. Prohibited items include the following:
    • Sports weapons, such as crossbows or javelins.
    • Oxygen canisters, unless accompanied by a medical passport indicating they are necessary.
    • Ammunition and fireworks.
Luggage checks
  • Random luggage checks take place at the Liège-Guillemins, Antwerpen Centraal and Brussel-Zuid/Midi stations.
What next
  • If your luggage meets the conditions, you can take it onboard with you and stow it free of charge in one of the following locations:
    • On the luggage racks above the seats.
    • On the luggage racks located in the centre of a number of coaches.
    • In the free space between seats arranged back to back.
    • Oversized luggage preferably in the entrance vestibule in coach 3/13.
  • If you take more luggage on board with you than allowed, the train manager will charge a supplement of € 30 per item of luggage on the spot. Please note, however: if there is insufficient space on the train, the additional luggage may also be refused.
