If you are travelling abroad with a pet, foreign laws and regulations apply.
A valid pet passport with vaccinations required for the country is compulsory. For more information, please consult your veterinary surgeon.
Pets are not permitted in couchette and sleeper coaches.
Small dogs and other small pets travel for free, if:
- They are carried in a basket or cage of a maximum of 45 x 30 x 30 cm.
- They weigh a maximum of 6 kg.
Large dogs travel at a charge. A ticket costs 50% of the full second-class fare.
Large dogs can travel:
- If they are on a leash and sit on the floor, wearing a muzzle. 
Guide dogs and assistance dogs travel free of charge and are not required to wear a muzzle.
