What are Swedish day trains
Swedish day trains are day trains managed by the Swedish railway company Statens Järnvägar (SJ). You book these trains with the SWE product range.
Three Swedish day train types can be booked with NS International:
  • X2000/X3000 (long-distance trains). High-speed trains that run from Stockholm to various cities such as Copenhagen, Gothenburg, Malmö and Oslo. A seat reservation is included in the ticket price.
    • X2 trains running between Stockholm and Copehagen are suspended until Saturday 14 June 2025 because of a shortage of carriages.
  • IC trains (medium and long distances).
  • Regional trains with integrated seat reservation. Regional trains cannot be booked without an integrated seat reservations.
 
Öresund trains
It is not yet possible to book Öresund trains. Öresund trains run across the bridge between Denmark and Sweden, from Copenhagen to Malmö/Gothenburg/Kalmar/Karlskrona. They are identifiable in the journey planner by the R before the train number. Please note that the trains do appear in the journey planner when you book through Guided Sales.

Services 
Luggage  
  • Passengers must be able to carry their own luggage. 
  • The luggage must not hinder other people. 
  • No more than two bags with a maximum size of 80 x 35 x 50 cm (l x w x h) and one computer case or handbag and one item of special luggage, such as a folded pram or folding bicycle, a golf bag or (packed) skis. 
 
Wi-Fi 
  • Wi-Fi is available on all Swedish day trains.
 
Bar coach 
  • A bar/buffet coach is available on all Swedish day trains.
  • On X2000/3000 trains breakfast is served on trains departing before 9 AM
 
Children/young people 
  • Children up to the age of 6 travel for free provided they do not occupy a seat of their own. If they do require a seat of their own, they travel at the Child fare.
  • There is no Child fare in 1st class. Children travelling in 1st class pay the Adult fare. Their ticket should be booked as if they are an adult.
  • When their accompanying adult travels with a Eurail or Interrail Pass, the Child fare does not apply. Children should be booked as if they are an adult.
  • A maximum of two children aged up to 15 accompanied by an adult can travel at the Child fare.
  • A youth is not considered an adult, so a youth cannot be the companion of children.
  • Young people aged 16 to 25 travel at a Youth fare.
  • Children aged up to 15 years travelling alone travel at a Youth fare.
 
Travelling with a disability
  • There are no special fares for passengers with a disability and their companions.
  • A wheelchair space is available in second class.
  • Maximum dimensions and weight of the wheelchair, including the passenger:
    • On X2000/SJ3000 trains: 120 x 70 cm (l x w) and 350 kg.
    • On Intercity trains: 84 x 67 cm (l x w) and 225 kg.
  • Mobility scooters are not permitted.
  • Assistance dogs travel for free.
 
Travelling with a pet
  • Two pets can travel for free. You need to reserve a seat in the area where pets are allowed.
 
Travelling with a bicycle
  • Bicycles are not allowed on the train.
