Do I pay a surcharge if I use the Intercity Direct when travelling to/from Belgium?
Eurocity Direct from Amsterdam to Brussels travels along the High Speed Line in the Netherlands. Between Amsterdam Zuid and Breda the train doubles as Intercity Direct.
If you have an international ticket and you are travelling with Eurocity Direct, the surcharge for using Intercity Direct between Amsterdam and Breda is included in the ticket price.
